DAVE HAYES

ARTIST STATEMENT
I am interested in helping preserve the nation’s dwindling legacy of wild lands and native wildlife. Public lands are suffering from mismanagement of forests, rivers, the sagebrush/steppe, and desert ecosystems. I especially like to paint wildlife and sporting themes. I also paint commission works particularly sporting dogs of my hunting friends.
Profits from the sale of my work benefit Wildlands Defense and Advocates for the West, Idaho non-profits dedicated to protecting and improving the ecological and aesthetic qualities of wildlands and wildlife communities in the western United States.
ARTIST RESUME
After retiring from a career with the US Forest Service, I graduated with a BFA (sculpture and painting) from Boise State University. I have attended three workshops by the late Charles Reid, a nationally renowned watercolor painter. I have been a member of the Art Source Gallery in Boise for two years. I was the featured artist at ASG in November last year. I had a recent show of oil paintings at the BSU Student Union Trueblood Gallery. My works are also on display at the gallery Rooted in Nature in Hailey, Idaho.
