Gallery 55 is pleased to offer for sale, as a fundraiser for McCall’s Children’s Theater, the masks that Robin Klassner, Kay La Bella, Etta Mayfield, Katrina Rude, Marnie Sell and Victoria Sell created for the 2017 fall production of Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.” The production was presented by the McCall Arts and Humanities Council’s Children’s Theater program by special arrangement with Music Theatre International with stage direction and choreography by Dawn Kolden and music direction by Linda Mayer. You can view these beautiful masks at the gallery through the month of June. Your purchase of a mask supports more great opportunities for local youth to participate in high-quality theater education. Director Kolden tells us that wearing a mask created for an actor “is a privilege. As the actor prepares for the role, the artist prepares for the creation of the mask. Each mask has an energy and, when brought to life on stage, it is palpable.” Come by the gallery and feel the energy.

Please join us for a reception on June 2, 4-8 pm, Gallery 55, 311 E. Lake St., McCall.

Out Behind the Barn by Debbie Barnett

The gallery has new hours beginning Memorial Day weekend, 11-6, seven days a week! Come join us any day but especially for our first Saturday reception on June 2nd, 4-8 pm. It’s the best party in town. Enjoy new art by guest artist Debbie Barnett, fabulous appetizers, wine by Bistro 45 and music by Mike Rutledge at Gallery Fifty-Five, 311 East Lake Street, McCall, Idaho.

About Guest Artist Debbie Barnett: Debbie tells us, “I am a native Idahoan, life long rancher and life long artist. Although it isn’t uncommon for this to happen, my interests have intertwined in a way that I had not foreseen. Art and ranching have a lot in common. Both require fortitude and determination and nothing is static. Ranching provides the subject matter and the art is the medium I use to record the lifestyle. My subjects are often animals either wild or domestic and the landscapes I paint are usually the rural and wild settings that fuel the imaginations and hearts of many. Old trucks and tractors speak to a time that has come and gone. The characters and personalities of the people I meet also interest the artist in me.”
