“Boise River Sunrise” by Rich Summers

We are excited to announce that landscape and wildlife painter Rich Summers is returning as our guest this January. Last year we loved Rich’s paintings, which demonstrate his command of light and color and his passion for the Western landscape. This year, he will have more of these, plus new abstract works. Celebrate the New Year, enjoy the slopes, visit the gallery. There’s plenty to love about McCall in January.

Happy Holidays! For the month of December, we are featuring our member Stephanie Teeter, a talented pastel painter. She recently returned to art after years of competitive equestrian endurance riding and raising a family. Years of being outdoors and riding throughout the world have given her a deep connection to the horses and the landscapes where they compete. Her brilliant sense of color plays beautifully in her paintings on this exciting subject matter. At our First Saturday reception on December 7th, you can see Stephanie’s paintings, along with artwork by our other members, including a special 8×8 sale ($49 for 8”x8” artwork) and a Christmas Market of gift items. You will also enjoy live music by the Late in Life String Band.

“Airship” by Shawn Hubbs

Early winter weather chills Payette Lake as I write this. In November, we are pleased to host guest artist Shawn Hubbs, who is strongly influenced by Steampunk, a sci-fi genre incorporating Victorian industrial steam-powered machinery and aesthetics. He builds intricate sculptures, such as models of airships or insectoid/mechanical fantasies, all from found objects. Some are functional. All are fun. We also are featuring one of our member artists, potter Genie Sue Weppner, who creates functional and decorative vessels inspired by time spent in Japan and her archeological studies in college. Each of her pieces reflects on the spiritual and ordinary aspects of our lives as did the finely crafted pottery of earlier civilizations. At our First Saturday reception on November 2nd, you can see Shawn’s and Genie Sue’s work and also that of our newest member, fiber artist Jean Goff. The reception will include live music by singer-songwriter Banjo Matt singing covers and originals and playing banjo in old-time claw hammer and Earl Scruggs styles.
