SUZANNE MCHONE

ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is rooted in mixed media—layered, weathered, and raw. I begin with handmade paper, ephemera, and found textures, letting the materials guide the story. Each piece is a patchwork of memory and emotion, stitched together with pigment, grit, and quiet resilience. I create to honor the beauty in what’s broken, repurposed, or forgotten.
Art, for me, began as a way to heal—a way to piece together something beautiful from the fragments. Over time, it’s grown into a practice of soulful excavation: uncovering layers, embracing imperfections, and listening to what wants to emerge. My hope is that others see a reflection of their own journey in the textures and shadows—that they find something honest, something they didn’t know they were looking for. – Suzanne McHone
