ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Samuel Jones, and I am a photographer based in Idaho. I was born and raised in Idaho, and I have lived here my entire life. I have spent most of my life exploring and learning many genres of photography; my primary focus is on Landscapes, Wildlife, and Astrophotography.
The goal of my photography is to offer viewers a window into the beauty of creation and the natural world. Growing up in Idaho, I have been blessed to experience this beauty firsthand, and photography allows me to express and share that wonder with others. The rugged topography, diverse ecosystem, and dark starry skies offer a never-ending sandbox to explore with my camera.
I started astrophotography in 2014, capturing wide field images of the Milky Way. After many years of eagerly studying and purchasing an imaging telescope in 2022, I started imaging deep sky wonders in the night sky, such as galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. My deep sky astro images typically consist of 20-50 hours of exposure time taken over multiple nights with a telescope, astro-camera, and motorized mount. Processing data into an image is what I love most about astrophotography.
I hope to provide an appreciation for our natural world and inspire others to explore it or share it with those who may not get to see it for themselves. – Samuel Jones
