December at Gallery 55

Our guest for December is McCall resident and watercolorist Peggy Bryan. A life-long artist, she was introduced to watercolors by her friend, teacher and mentor Ruth Harnell. She found watercolors to be a perfect medium for expressing her encounters with nature as a ski patroller, river guide, hiker and backpacker. We also have two new members to the gallery: glass artist Edie Martin from Eagle and painter Paul Bush from Boise. As a returning member to Gallery 55, locals may remember Edie Martin’s work in the gallery ten or so years ago. Her specialty has been fused glass creations in bowls, plates, vases and lampshades. Recently, she has added jewelry in changing multi-colored dichroic glass to her repertoire. For luscious and expressive paintings, Paul Bush is your artist. After twenty-five years as an illustrator/animator, art director, and interactive graphic designer, Paul Bush now paints in oil and gouache, specializing in portraits of people, wildlife and pets, and also in plein-air landscapes.

We are open until 8:00 pm on Friday, December 6, as part of “Shop Local, Shop Late” after the annual McCall tree lighting at 5:30. Then please join us for a reception the next evening, December 7, 4-6:30 p.m., with live music by Annie Nies and Jeff Box. Our holiday decorations are up, including a tree with small art gifts and ornaments.

View Peggy’s, Edie’s and Paul’s work and the work of over twenty regional artists at Gallery 55 during the month of December. The gallery is open 11-5 daily, except for our late nights December 6 and 7 and 11-3 New Year’s Eve. Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
